The Phoenix Association

Connecticut

Unrestricted Funding

2019 - 2020

The Phoenix Association focuses on transforming the culture of prisons to achieve better outcomes for staff and the incarcerated. This grant supports Phoenix Association’s general operations, including: expanding new and existing projects and supporting attitude change of corrections staff at Osborn prison by building understanding and empathy between them, the incarcerated and the formerly incarcerated. Phoenix is also looking to design an innovative training project for CT prosecutors and judges similar to the Osborn prison model. Phoenix hopes to develop a technical assistance model to help other states and jurisdictions design, implement, and evaluate culture change projects in their justice systems.
