To provide general operating support for this division, whose attorneys provide legal services and educational advocacy in court and schools on behalf of low-income and justice involved youth. Attorneys successfully prevent school suspensions, expulsions and arrests; secure special education, mental health, and other services for clients; help schools revise their discipline codes and work collaboratively with police, and ensure local school practices comply with state law and regulations. The attorneys also provide a quarterly legal education series for probation officers, court personnel and service providers on juvenile justice and education issues.
