Medicine Monday: Dr. Alessandra Pernis Of Hss

In the first installment of our #MedicineMonday series, we are highlighting the incredible work of Dr. Alessandra Pernis, senior scientist and co-director of the David Z. Rosensweig Center for Genomic Research at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS).

In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Rosenweig Center, Dr. Pernis studies the molecular mechanisms that white blood cells, or lymphocytes, use to guide themselves along specific pathways.

Over the course of her 30+ years in medicine, Dr. Pernis has established herself as an expert in combating musculoskeletal and inflammatory conditions like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis using an innovative genomics approach.
