Restorative Justice Initiative

2019, 2021 - 2023

The Westchester and Rockland Mediation Centers (WRMC) provide a broad range of mediation and training services across Westchester and Rockland counties, including in schools and courtrooms. An early pioneer in the field of restorative justice, WRMC diverts youth and young adults from the justice system by bringing the harmed person and the one who caused the harm together to resolve their issues, agree on the consequences and heal. With prior Foundation funding, WRMC expanded its offering of mediation and support services to adolescent girls and their families involved in the criminal justice system. This grant continues to support WRMC’s restorative justice work for adolescent girls while also expanding its services to include adolescent boys as well as trainings for education administrators across Westchester and Rockland counties.
