This funding provides general operating support for Children’s Defense Fund New York (CDF-NY), which uses research, public education, policy development, community organizing and advocacy to help improve the lives of children and families in New York City and State. Established in 1992, CDF-NY continues to play a critical leadership role in the Raise the Age New York public awareness campaign, which seeks to ensure that all youth are treated age-appropriately and equitably and that no youth are housed in adult jails and prisons. CDF-NY helps convene leading organizations around New York State working on this campaign and provides technical assistance through forums, workshops and an advocacy toolkit to help coalition members.
