Andrea Sholler Departs The Tow Foundation For Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival

Andrea Sholler, currently the associate director of The Tow Foundation in New Canaan, CT, is leaving to become the general manager of Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival (the Pillow) in Becket, MA, where she began her career in 1983 as the Pillow’s first development associate. Jacob’s Pillow is a National Historic Landmark, a National Medal of Arts recipient, and is home to America’s longest running dance festival, located in the Berkshire area of Western Massachusetts.

At The Tow Foundation, Andrea worked with executive leadership to develop funding programs designed to support playwright residency programs, college programs for incarcerated populations, and a wide range of fellowship opportunities for undergraduate, graduate and post-doc students, and professors. She also oversaw the expansion of the foundation’s full-time staff.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Andrea was the executive director of Dance Theater Workshop in New York City. She served as a program officer with both the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and the Altman Foundation, and was a producer of Dancenow/NYC. Andrea is a trustee of the Mertz Gilmore Foundation and a program consultant for The Barbara Bell Cumming Foundation. She is a founding co-chair of the Non-Family Senior Staff Peer Network for the National Center for Family Philanthropy and is currently serving as a mentor in Philanthropy New York’s Young Leaders Breakfast Club. Andrea has been an active member of New York Grantmakers in the Arts, Philanthropy New York, Connecticut Council for Philanthropy and Media Impact Funders.

Andrea earned a B.A. in American Studies from Barnard College.
